Job Title : BIM Mechanical Engineer
Location : South West
Salary : £30,000 - £40,000
The role will report to the Principle BIM Delivery Engineer utilising your prior experience of engineering delivery within a digital environment. and contribute to the company's goal of creating a BIM centre of excellence.
With a key focus on delivery, the initial responsibility of the role is to work provide digital design solutions to our in-house engineering teams.
Essential Experience :
Mechanical or Electrical Design experience ( in the Water and Waste-water industry preferable but not essential).
Experience producing pump calculations, lifting and routing solutions, screening & chemical dosing.
Relevant electrical or mechanical qualifications.
Desire to progress and succeed within the industry.
Awareness of health and safety including CDM issues and design risks.
An understanding of PAS 1192 & BS EN ISO 19650.
Good communication and report writing skills.
Track record in M&E design and coordination including multidisciplinary projects and ideally experience within a BIM environment with an emphasis on large projects
Expert Technical proficiency in the use of at least one of the common industry CAD and BIM design software packages: eg Autodesk Revit, Navisworks, Plant 3D, Civils 3D.
Ability to pick up new software and gain a working knowledge quickly.
Technical proficiency in at least one of the popular CDE systems: eg Autodesk BIM 360 Docs
Able to understand and implement BIM Execution Plans and Employer Information Requirements.
Role Details: Reporting to the Principle BIM Delivery Engineer and Strategic BIM Manager to ensure that the designs of projects are running to client requirements and are compliant with regulations.
Assists in or lead the delivery of the design documentation at both outline and detail design stages. This can include:
• Pump calculations & selection.
• Structural design of pipelines / concrete structures
• Outline design details (including 3D block models Site Layouts / General Arrangements, Hydraulic Profile, P & ID, Process Flow Diagram).
• Produce detailed design 3D Models, construction drawings and specifications, as built drawings / plans.
Compliance with the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations, including design hazard identification, elimination / reduction and identification of remaining risks.
Produce designs in accordance with the design specification.
Ensure the integrity of the design through design calculations, awareness of modern construction techniques and cost effectiveness.
Communicating accurately with other stakeholders throughout the whole project lifecycle
Understand and work to the project BIM requirements within the CDE.
Producing intelligent 3D models and constantly adding more value to the client by extracting information directly from the model, 2D drawings, Pipe Schedules, Setting out etc.
Actively contribute to project design development by collaborating closely with project stakeholders, contributing to coordination, clash detection and design review workshops.
Analyse and manipulate models and drawings received from third parties including suppliers
Analyse and manipulate base maps and GIS data
Produce as-built records, liaising with the construction team to clarify details as necessary
Upload to the CDE of the required information at relevant stages of design or data drops with support of the CDE Administrator.
