Mechanical Design Engineer (Water)
Outline of role:
To undertake and check the delivery of the design solution and associated outputs.
Core duties and responsibilities:
Assist with the development of capability statements and the submission of prequalification questionnaires, expressions of interest and tenders.
Â· Assist with the cultivation of new clients and the development of services with existing clients.
Â· Assist the Project Manager in clarifying the project brief, agreed deliverables, key milestones, project methodology, quality assurance and control strategy.
Â· Undertake significant elements of the outline and detailed design; e.g. calculations, drawings, sketches, reports etc, to achieve the optimum solution for the project.
Assess, document and communicate design changes to the Project Manager.
Be aware of work requirement and take personal responsibility to work to deliver this to agreed time, cost and quality requirements.
Ensure that all work is carried out in full compliance with the Company`s Integrated Management Systems (IMS).
Â· Comply with Grontmij`s health and safety policies at all times.
Â· Undertake the checking of outputs as directed.
Â· Provide technical guidance, support and training to colleagues and assist, where practicable, in mentoring and development of others.
Â· Work in close collaboration with colleagues from other disciplines as required.
Â· Recommend / implement improvements to technical policy, processes and design solutions where applicable and share via the knowledge management channels as appropriate.
- Knowledge and Experience: Â· Previous experience in a similar role is required. Â· Ability to carry out the necessary calculations for the design of clean and dirty water pumping stations. Â· Knowledge of DSEAR. Â· Appreciation of the other disciplines necessary for the design of water projects. Â· Proficient in MS Office. Â· The ability to communicate in a fluent and positive manner with other team members and to produce reports in clear English. Professional Membership and Qualifications: Â· Degree in mechanical engineering or related subject. Â· Hold or be working towards a recognised professional qualification. (CEng MIMechE)
