Hemal Vaghela, Account Manager, IT and Government division at Anglo

Today we interviewed Hemal Vaghela, Account Manager, IT and Government division at Anglo. He shares his thoughts on both the IT and Government industries and gives some useful advice to professionals who are working in this sectors.

What is your professional background?

I have been at Anglo for over 4 years and this was and is my first job out in the real world.

What are your responsibilities at Anglo?

My main responsibility is to manage and run our entire public sector desk which includes the entire UK Central Government ranging from the NHS all the way to the Ministry of Defence. The vacancies cover all disciplines such as IT, Engineering, Finance, Programme/ Project Management and many more. I also look after any IT requirements that come through from existing Anglo clients and some new ones occasionally.

How busy is your sector?

Usually all the time, apart from the recent Brexit referendum period which resulted in a major slowdown of vacancies however it has now returned to its usual busy consistency. It can be quite demanding with each role being given to us with a 72 hour recruitment window to fill the roles. On average 3 or 4 new roles are released everyday so the roles can pile up pretty quickly however the 72 hour window creates a very rapid turnaround in this sector.

What advice would you give professionals who are actively looking?

If you are actively looking and you come across a public sector or UK Government role then please do act fast and either apply or get in touch with me. This is purely because of the face pace at which this sector operates and I don’t want candidates to miss out on suitable positions. Another bit of advice would be that, if you have any public sector experience then please add that onto your CV as it is a big advantage with these roles however it is not a complete deal breaker.
